Stormwater Upgrades for Sail GP
The Council sought to enhance Lyttelton’s facilities to promote Christchurch during the Sail Gran Prix event. LB Civil were tasked with upgrading the stormwater infrastructure, which encompassed Dome Sumps, Double Sumps, PVC and Concrete pipes ranging from 225-900 in size, marine-grade manholes. Additionally, the project involved the installation of Christchurch City Council’s first water treatment system, Vortec 5000, 4M deep, with direct discharge into the sea. With various unforeseen obstructions, the LBC team provided valuable support across multiple design and build scenarios resulting in minimised on-site downtime. With a strong focus on environmental protection, LBC’s environmental management plan was rigorously monitored and reviewed due to the nature of work, contaminated soils, and proximity to the harbor and its wildlife.
